The following must appear on the abstract or else the document will be rejected
- Title of abstract
- Names of author(s): maximum 5 authors; initials and surname; without titles or degrees; with institutional affiliation(s)
- Name of presenting author underlined
- Indicate whether the presenter is a medical student, registrar, junior researcher, sub-specialty Fellow or consultant within 2 years of completing the surgical Fellowship
Content of abstract structured as follows:
- Introduction or background to study
- Research question or aim of study
- Materials and Methods
- In the methods the following should be clearly stated:
- Study design: prospective; retrospective etc
- Setting and sampling
- Inclusion and exclusion criteria
- Data collected
- Data analysis and statistical analysis used
- Ethical considerations: ethics approval/ institutional board review
- Results
- Conclusions
- One table and one picture only may be included
After acceptance, exchange of the presenting author will only be possible following approval of a written request addressed to the chairperson of the programme committee Dr. Ines Buccimazza at ines@orthoserve.co.za
Deadline for online abstract submission is strictly on the 24th April 2015
Abstracts are to be submitted electronically in the above format to the scientific committee co-ordinator, Professor Geoff Candy at Geoffrey.candy@wits.ac.za and copied to the scientific committee administrator, Dr. Colleen Aldous at Aldousc@ukzn.ac.za
Confirmation of acceptance of abstract will be communicated electronically to the presenting author by the scientific committee administrator, Dr. Colleen Aldous on the 11th May 2015
Accepted abstracts will only be integrated in the final programme once the meeting registration form and payment of the presenting author have been received by latest the 25th May 2015
Authors whose paper has been selected for the prize sessions are strongly encouraged to submit the full manuscript to a peer-reviewed journal of their choice. The scientific committee can assist with guidelines for manuscript submission.
